The Reade’s are a old English family descending from yeoman farming stock on the high Staffordshire moorlands at Blackwood Hill near Leek, close to where Rudyard Lake now is.
A book was published about our family in 1906, ‘The Reades of Blackwood Hill and Dr Johnson’s Ancestry’. We are maternally related to the great lexicographer.
